Observer's Corner for September

The Total Solar Eclipse (TSE) August 2017

I want to thank Dave and Bill for helping with the telescope; for Bill driving me all over Wyoming and Colorado; to Bill and Jean for opening up their beautiful home in Fort Collins; and to my wife Terry, for enabling me to enjoy the total solar eclipse as a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks to Farnaz, John, Kathi, and Dennis that make this trip amazingly memorable . (Terry, Bill, Jean, Dennis, Kathi, Farnaz and John are NOT VCAS members)
Thanks all!

High clouds compromised the Corona detail.

It went SO FAST! I couldn’t finish my exposure schedule!

Casper Wyoming, Ramakota Hotel parking lot.

Many friends were there to share the spectacular Once-In-A Lifetime event. A “Bucket-List”!

Total Solar Eclipses are awesome, spectacular and words cannot describe the visual experience. They're more than that. It brings old friendships together. It brings strangers together with one common goal. Eclipses bring people together under the awe of nature and science. The event is not only humbling but also makes us feel so fragile as we are on this tiny planet for just a few minutes of our short lives. It makes us think about our mortality. Can you make it to 7 years in 2024? I'll...l be 75. In 2045, I'll be 97!
